Families for Clean Air administers the following site: www.famillesairpur.org. (the "Site")

 

1.2. Consent

 

By browsing the site or providing us with your personal information in any other way (for example, by telephone), we consider (1) that you accept the terms set out in this Policy and (2) that you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your information in accordance therewith.

 

1.3 Updates

 

We reserve the right to update this Policy, whether to comply with new laws or regulations, or to inform you about new sites. Therefore, we recommend that you review this Policy regularly.

If you continue to use our site or otherwise provide personal information to us, we'll assume that you accept these updates. If you object to these updates, please stop using our site.

2. Data collected

 

2.1. Automatic data collection

 

When you visit our site, there is an automatic exchange of data between your computer and our servers, including in particular:

• Your IP address (a numerical address allowing the precise location of a computer connected to the Internet, for example: 999.99.99.999).

• The type of browser you use (for example: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox or Safari) and the associated operating system (for example: Windows, macOS or Linux).

• The pages you visit.

• The date and time of access to these pages.

• The address of the referring site if you access our site from another website.

 

This automatically exchanged data does not identify you. They are collected to meet the technological requirements related to Internet browsing (so that our servers can send you files compatible with your computer equipment) and for statistical purposes. They are used to count the number of visits, to identify the most consulted pages, to analyze the technology used by visitors, to determine the referring sites and the country of origin of visitors.

2.2. Non-automatic data collection

We may also collect data when you perform certain actions on our site, such as:

• Creation of a user account.

• Registration of personal information in your account.

• Filling out a form.

• Participate in a survey or petition

• Subscription to a newsletter.

• Making a donation or a transaction.

We may also collect this data during communications in person (for example, when signing a petition on the street or attending a booth), by telephone or by e-mail.

• Your answer to the list of items to tick from the following: "I want to get involved", "I am a scientist / a health professional", "I like social networks", "I like direct action", “I can edit/write content”

• Any imported document.

• Your permission to have your name published or not

• Your consent for Clean Air Families to publish your story online and to edit the content as needed

 

2.3. Data collection from third parties

With your consent, some of our partners may send us the personal information you provide to them. This allows us to keep in touch with you when you participate in a project in collaboration with a partner. Your consent is obtained via a checkbox accompanied by text similar to this:

"I agree to receive additional information from Families for Clean Air. I authorize [Partner] to transmit the information necessary to contact me. You can unsubscribe from this list at any time. [Instructions for obtaining more information and/or unsubscribe]."

Additionally, we may use other third parties to collect data about you. These third parties may include, but are not limited to, (1) IT tools we use to create forms (e.g., registration forms, surveys, and petitions) or run webinars, (2) services ticketing for registration to our events, (3) targeting tools such as those used by Canada Post. These third parties process your personal information in accordance with their own policies.

Clean Air Families does not purchase contact lists from third parties.

2.4. Use of cookies

​

We use cookies to facilitate navigation on our site. You have the option of configuring your browser to block cookies. However, this may deprive you of certain features offered on our site.

If you use a computer in a public place or share a computer with other users, be sure to erase the traces of your browsing, by deleting the history, before ending each session.

2.5. Use of Google Analytics

​

We use Google Analytics, a web audience analysis tool.

​

Using cookies, Google Analytics collects information about your browsing on our site, which is stored on servers, in particular in the United States. Google may disclose this information to third parties where required to do so by law or where such third parties process the data on Google's behalf.

The information collected by this tool includes, for example, the pages you visit, the date, time, duration and frequency of your visits, and the links you click on. Information on the operating system of your computer, the language used, the name of your Internet access provider and your geographical location (region) are also part of the information collected. Your IP address is also collected, but it is anonymized to ensure the confidentiality of information about you. Anonymizing the IP address prevents the identification of a user from it.

Google only uses the information collected to produce statistics and reports on navigation on our site, which allows us to improve our services.

If you wish, you can prevent Google from recording information about your browsing by installing the Google Analytics opt-out add-on on your computer.

 

3. Use of collected data

 

3.1. General

 

The information we collect is necessary for the fulfillment of our mission. We use them in particular for:

• Maintain a record of topics of interest to you;

• Communicate relevant news, promotions and updates to you (by phone, mail or email);

• Process applications for membership as a member;

• Process online transactions or donations;

• Provide invoices and receipts;

• Provide services to you if you request them;

• Carry out quantitative and qualitative studies and research;

• Improve our site, our services and your experience;

• Provide certain information to business partners;

• Comply with regulatory obligations.

 

When you provide us with your contact details for a specific purpose, we may use them to communicate with you regarding other aspects of our work. For example, if you sign a petition, we may contact you by email or phone to invite you to support our work through a donation.

Note: In some cases, we may not be able to provide certain services to you without certain specific personal information. For example, without your email address, we may not be able to contact you so that you can get involved with the organization.

However, you may continue to receive communications from us in the following cases:

• You are a member and we need to contact you regarding the Annual General Meeting;

• You are a donor and we need to contact you regarding your donation or send you a receipt;

• You are registered for an event (such as a webinar or a stand) and we need to contact you for the organization, the smooth running or to collect your satisfaction;

• You have signed a petition and we need to contact you to let you know the results.

 

3.3. Fund raising

We could not achieve our mission without the support of our generous donors. This support guarantees not only our financial stability, but also our precious independence. If you have given in the past, we may contact you by email, with or without your express consent (opt-in), and by telephone, whether or not you are on the CRTC's National Do Not Call List.

You can choose at any time to no longer receive these communications by contacting the responsible person indicated in the section "Your rights". We will respond to your request as soon as possible.

3.4. Aggregated data

​

In some cases, we combine your data with those of other people in order to take stock of our projects. For example, we can track the number of people who donated or signed a petition by postal code. This allows us to know where our supporters are engaging and to talk about it. For example, we could indicate that "100 people participated in this or that action in Montreal". However, we will never disclose your personal information.

3.5. Transfer of data abroad

We work with third parties to store the personal information we collect. The servers of these third parties are sometimes located in the United States. By using our site, you authorize us to store your personal information in the United States. Please refer to the following section for the security measures in place.

4. Protection of collected data

We take the necessary precautions to ensure that your personal information is adequately protected against loss, theft, unauthorized access, reproduction, disclosure, use or modification, taking into account its sensitivity and the purposes for which they are used, when they are under our responsibility.

• Use of firewalls;

• Data encryption;

We ensure that the third parties we work with comply with security best practices, including ISO/IEC 27001 (information security), 27017 (information security in cloud computing) and 27018 (protection of personal information in cloud computing), as well as SOC 2 and 3 audits (security, confidentiality, integrity and availability controls).

 

4.2. Protection of financial information

 

If you make a payment or donation by credit card, you will be asked for certain financial information. This information is processed by a third party, through a secure PCI compliant gateway, to process the credit card payment. Families for Clean Air does not store your bank details in digital form.

4.3. Security - your measures

​

As a user of the site, you are also responsible for the security of your personal information. You should take steps to ensure the security of your computer and network when transmitting your personal information to us. It is recommended to use unique and confidential passwords.

External links - our site may contain links to other resources posted on external sites operated by third parties. This Privacy Policy does not apply to these external sites. We have no control over their privacy policies and practices. We encourage you to read each site's privacy policy carefully.

5. Disclosure of Collected Information

5.1. Disclosure to employees

​

As part of our business, we may disclose personal information to Clean Air Family employees who need it to fulfill the purposes set out in this policy.

5.2. Disclosure to Partners

​

If you consent, we may share the personal information you provide to us with some of our partners. This will allow them to keep in touch with you when you participate in a joint project (*).

For example, we may jointly organize and promote an event, action or petition.

5.3. Disclosure to third parties

We may share certain information with third parties mentioned in the "Use of Third Parties" section. Third parties will only have access to user data to the extent reasonably necessary to achieve the specific purpose.

We will not sell or disclose your personal information without your express consent, except in the following cases:

• To prove or protect our legal rights;

• Right of rectification: You can request the correction of personal information that we have collected;

• Right of withdrawal: You can withdraw your consent to the use of the information collected, in whole or in part. For example, you can opt out of receiving all or some of our communications;

• Right to deletion: You can request the deletion of your personal information if it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and if there is no other legal reason for keeping it.
