Right to a healthy environment under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA): Our recommendations

In April 2024, we were pleased to present a discussion paper to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) as part of the development of the framework for implementing the right to a healthy environment.

We invite you to read our document available here:

Three areas of intervention:

  1. Residential wood combustion

  2. Campfires

  3. Commercial wood fired cooking

ECCC has just published on October 5, 2024 a draft framework which will be subject to consultations for 60 days: https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/canadian-environmental-protection-act-registry/publications/implementation-framework.html

INCREDIBLE: No mention of residential wood burning - leading cause of environmental death in the country!

Share your ideas

You have a brilliant idea for action or communication strategy, we want to hear from you.

Tell your story

We want to know your smoke story! Wood burning affects the lives of thousands of people and every story matters.

Write to the authorities

The more of us there are to denounce the issue, the more elected officials and public health authorities will be justified in intervening.

Exchange with a community

Ruminating alone in a basement is useless. We are stronger together!
